Hidden gems – 1833: Frankie Silver hanged for the Axe Murder of Her Husband

Join us on the 188th anniversary of the event to hear the story of Frankie Silver, the first white woman put to death in Burke County, NC. On July 12, 1833, Frankie Silver was hanged in Morganton for the axe murder of her husband, Charles Silver. The motive was never clear and Frankie never confessed. She was the first white woman to be hanged in Burke County.
