Join us via Zoom for a book club discussion of UNC alumus John Bare’s new novel, Fair-Skinned Brunette With the Porcelain Shine, which is a murder mystery set in Chapel Hill. It’s a fun read, full of biscuits and whiskey, long lost love and original song lyrics. Lassie James, the book’s lead character, is a journalist and part-time songwriter. NC music legend Don Dixon turned lyrics from the book into 12 original songs, co-writing and producing an album (Lassie James Songbook Vol I).
John was born in Winston-Salem and attended public schools in Garner, NC. He attended the University of North Carolina, where he studied film as an undergraduate and received a PhD in mass communication research.
